magnetic clamping for grinding
Questions and answers
1. What happens in case of power failure ?
Nothing ! The workpiece remains clamped on the magnetic chuck. Indeed, the electropermanent technology of the Walker Braillon Magnetics system needs power only for a few milli-seconds to energise and de-energise the system. During the production cycles, there is no power consumption.
2. The magnetic clamping is invisible ; how can we know if the magnetic chuck is active or not ?
Control units have been designed to enable a visual indication of the chuck condition on the machine PLC or on a separate remote control. A dialog between the unit control and the machine is installed to ensure a completely safe solution.
3. What happens if the operator pushes the off button during a machining cycle ?
Nothing ! A dialog is established between the Walker Braillon Magnetics chuck and the machine in order to ensure all safety devices and forbids any incorrect operation. A totally secure system is achieved in order to avoid any accidental damage to the machine or to the workpiece.
4. Are Walker Braillon Magnetics grinding chucks waterproof ? What happens in case of grinding using aggressive coolants ?
Nothing !The Walker Braillon Magnetics chucks are completely waterproof ! Even in case of infiltration of liquid into the chuck, the design of the magnetic chucks ensures that there is absolutely no risk to the magnetic circuits.
5. Can the magnetic power deform the workpiece ?
No ! A potentiometer on the remote control permits adjustment of the magnetic power in order to adapt the clamping force to each workpiece.
6. After demagnetisation of the chuck, do the workpieces stay magnetised ?
No ! The electropermanent system used by Walker Braillon Magnetics is supplied with TOTAL demagnetisation. Our know how and the performance that Walker Braillon Magnetics put in the engineering of the magnetic systems guarantees the demagnetisation of the chuck AND the workpiece.
7. By fixing the magnetic chuck on the machine, do not we loose working area ?
No ! The clamping of the Walker Braillon Magnetics chucks on the machine can either be done with clamps or with screws, through the magnetic chuck, without any loss of working area, nor of clamping force. This is one of the many options proposed by Walker Braillon Magnetics. In fact the working area of the machine table can be utilised.
